| MEDICINAL INGREDIENT: Each effervescent tablet, when dissolved in water supplies 25 mEq of elemental potassium (975 mg) as potassium citrate. |
| NON-MEDICINAL INGREDIENTS: Dextrose, Saccharin Sodium, FD&C Yellow #6, Blood Orange Flavour, Mineral Oil, Talc, and Docusate Sodium. |
| RECOMMENDED USE OR PURPOSE: Oral potassium supplement for the therapy or prophylaxis of potassium deficiency. Especially useful for routine use with thiazide diuretics or corticosteroid hormones to replace excessive potassium losses. |
| RECOMMENDED DOSE: Adults: One (1) tablet dissolved in 3 to 4 ounces (85-115mL) of cold or ice water 2 to 4 times daily or as directed by physician. Prevention of hypokalemia: supplementally, approximately 20 to 40 mmol(mEq)/day. Treatment of depletion: 40 to a maximum of 100 mmol (mEq) daily. K-Lyte® should be taken with meals and sipped slowly over a 5 to 10 minute period. |
| RISK INFORMATION: Consult your physician prior to use if you have impaired kidney function. The use of potassium supplements must be monitored closely in these patients. Consult your physician before taking potassium supplements and potassium sparing diuretics (e.g. spironolactone or triamterene) together as this may cause higher than normal potassium levels in the blood.
